The Chicago White Sox are never anyone's favorite offense to target, but they get a rather intriguing matchup against Adam Plutko tonight. Plutko has all of three starts this year, but the resulting peripherals from them is a paltry 5.16 SIERA and 16.7% strikeout rate, along with a 41.8% hard-hit rate allowed. Were this a more productive offense, the implied team total would be far better than the 4.45 mark the White Sox are getting.
Still, that doesn't mean Chicago can't score some runs in this one, and Matt Davidson is a great way to gain some exposure without committing too many resources. Davidson is an all-or-nothing bet with his 34.5% strikeout rate, but he's also producing an impressive 46.4% hard-hit rate, and has posted a career .238 isolated power (ISO) versus right-handed pitching.
A full stack is a risky proposition, but don't rule out a power bat like Davidson to fill out a tournament lineup.
