The Minnesota Twins are in a great spot tonight, taking on Baltimore Orioles righty Andrew Cashner. Cashner's 4.86 SIERA puts him on pace for his third consecutive year with a SIERA worse than 4.70, and over those three seasons, he has allowed a .345 wOBA and an ugly 5.24 xFIP to left-handed bats.
That makes this a particularly good spot for lefty Joe Mauer.
Mauer hasn't been anything special from the dish this year, but the last two seasons have seen him fare quite well against right-handed pitching. In 627 plate appearances against righties in that stretch, he has converted a 40.4% hard-hit rate and 12.3% soft-hit rate into a .339 wOBA.
