Streamers who don't mind living a little dangerously might look to Danny Duffy for a potential two-start turn this week. The embattled Kansas City Royals' lefty has seen his once-dominant slider absolutely tank in 2018, surrendering a .281 isolated slugging (ISO) on that pitch after giving up a .107 ISO or better on it in each of the last three seasons.
And of course, it doesn't help that the walk rate on his four-seam has doubled since last season. Why in the world are we recommending such a sorry case as a streamer?
Well, Duffy does draw some very weak competition this week, with the White Sox and Twins both tallying bottom-four group ISO marks against southpaws over the last 30 days. The free-swinging White Sox seem like real marks for Duffy, with a league-worst 4.4% walk rate against lefties over that span.
This is Duffy's chance to whittle away at that chilling 5.19 ERA. Whether you want to go along for the ride depends entirely on your appetite for risk.
