It's no secret CC Sabathia's best days are behind him, but he's continued to be a very useful pitcher for the New York Yankees. In 16 starts in 2018, he's gone 6-3 with a 3.02 ERA, reducing his walk rate to 6.3%, his lowest since 2014.
However, at a time when strikeouts are through the roof, Sabathia's strikeout ate has fallen a bit, down to 18.5% (from 19.3% a year ago). His FIP of 4.21 and xFIP of 4.46 indicate his ERA should come up a little bit, too.
Of course, the fact that everyone knows Sabathia is a lesser pitcher these days could make him a very cheap buy, and he's someone to add to the back of a rotation who you know can count on. He's typically not going to get shelled, and he's generally going to pitch effectively. Plus, he's a decent source of wins -- six this season -- pitching for such a good team.
CC isn't a star, but he's good depth and can probably be had for cheap.
