On the surface, the Chicago White Sox matchup with Tampa Bay Rays righty Ryne Stanek looks like a really rough one. Stanek has been terrific in his young Major League career and has a 3.62 SIERA on the year.
He hasn't fared quite as well in his 23 2/3 innings as a starter, though, posting a 4.06 xFIP. He has also allowed a 41.8% hard-hit rate as a starter, with an even bigger 42.3% mark overall. Concerning contact was a theme in his rookie campaign in 2017, as well, and his career-average hard-hit rate sits at 43.0% with a 48.3% fly-ball rate.
Daniel Palka isn't a high-floor option in this matchup, but the pop he offers against righties provides a great ceiling. In 216 plate appearances, he has cracked right-handed pitchers for a 37.7% hard-hit rate and 43.8% fly-ball rate, which has translated to a huge .284 ISO.
