On the other side of that game, the Diamondbacks' don't have a big implied total (4.19) while dealing with the most pitcher-friendly park factor on the slate, but their offense still offers some promise here.
The Padres will be starting Jacob Nix, who has only one Major League game under his belt.
Nix dealt a scoreless six innings in that outing, but that came with a 4.60 SIERA. We saw a similar trend in his only career Triple-A start, where he also allowed no earned runs over six innings but posted a 4.10 xFIP. And to get a bigger sample, he made nine Double-A starts in 2018, posting a middling 3.93 xFIP at that level. He's had some success so far, but a deeper look at the numbers reveals that we can expect things to get much worse for the 22-year-old.
Paul Goldschmidt does his best work with the platoon advantage, but he's still producing well against righties this year, turning in a .386 wOBA and .241 ISO on a 45.7% hard-hit rate and 35.9% fly-ball rate, giving him plenty of upside.
