The Cincinnati Reds will start righty Anthony DeSclafani tonight, and that leaves the Milwaukee Brewers with a hefty 5.03 implied total -- Monday's highest to this point.
DeSclafani has had a reasonable year overall, with a 4.13 SIERA and 20.9% strikeout rate, which aren't overly concerning marks. However, he's giving up some massive contact, with a 40.7% hard-hit and 37.2% fly-ball rate, leaving opposing bats with a ton of fantasy upside.
Travis Shaw isn't a guy that needs a ton of help to make big contact, either. He has a 38.0% hard-hit and 43.8% fly-ball rate against right-handers over his career, and in 418 plate appearances in 2018, that has jumped to 42.3% hard-hit and 48.2% fly-ball. That contact has translated to a .370 wOBA and .291 ISO despite a lowly .230 batting average on balls in play (compared to .285 for his career).
He is bound to see some regression, and this matchup puts him in a prime spot to do some big damage.
