FanDuel Price: $6,600
On a slate where we can roster guys like Jacob deGrom, Gerrit Cole, and German Marquez, it might be a little risky to go too far off the beaten path, but if you aren't afraid to roll the dice and maximize your savings then Sean Reid-Foley might be your man.
With Reid-Foley, we only have a five-game sample size to work, but in spite of a less then stellar 5.54 ERA, he's posted a much better 4.36 SIERA, and more importantly, he's showing a strong 27.6% strikeout rate. That's nearly identical to the 27.1% strikeout rate he managed over 16 Triple-A starts this year.
As one might expect from the ERA, as well as a poor 13.8% walk rate, Reid-Foley's results have been all over the place, but he's already shown an excellent ceiling. In those five starts, Reid-Foley has posted FanDuel scores of 15, 13, 58, 5, and 51. That's a ridiculously wide range of outcomes, but it shows what makes him compelling as a tournament play. Reid-Foley draws the Tampa Bay Rays, which isn't necessarily the best matchup, but one of his 50-point performances did come against the New York Yankees.
On a strong pitching slate, dropping down to Reid-Foley is a bit of a YOLO move, but there's plenty of upside in taking a shot if you're making multiple lineups.
