NFBC ADP: 277th
Draft Round: 24th
While the Seattle Mariners are undergoing a rebuild of sorts, one player they should be able to count on in 2019 is lefty Marco Gonzales.
Returning from Tommy John surgery for the 2017 season, Gonzales had a rough campaign -- and that is putting it nicely. Over 40 innings pitched, he was bombed for a 6.08 ERA, allowing a whopping a 1.80 home runs per nine innings while amassing only a 17.3% strikeout rate.
Those numbers improved significantly in 2018. Spanning 29 starts, he increased his strikeout rate to 21.1%, cut down his walk rate to only 4.7%, and limited fly-balls to a 30.1% mark. All that added up to a dope 3.81 SIERA.
With impeccable command and another year removed from major arm surgery, Gonzales should be a solid back-end fantasy starter.
