Typically, rostering Nolan Arenado in DFS when he's facing a lefty is an easy call. For his career, he's recorded a .325 batting average in 992 plate appearances in the split, including a 1.009 OPS, .288 isolated power (ISO), and 43.9% fly-ball rate.
But peering into Arenado's home-road splits changes things a bit. On the road versus southpaws, he has recorded a less impressive a .191 ISO, 31.6% hard-hit rate, and .346 wOBA.
And today, he isn't facing just any lefty -- he's up against American League Cy Young winner Blake Snell. That leads to a lowly 3.06-run implied total for the Colorado Rockies, third-lowest on the day.
As is usually the case when he's seeing a lefty, Arenado is likely to be one of the more popular third basemen, but this is a spot in which we may want to stay away.
