Price: $2,800
The second-highest implied total on the slate belongs to the New York Yankees.
Greg Bird has been underwhelming since his impressive 2015 season, and he only managed a .291 wOBA last year. He did flash some power, though, with a .188 ISO on a 39.9% hard-hit and 49.5% fly-ball rate.
His contact was especially solid against right-handed pitching, turning in a 40.4% hard-hit rate and 50.0% fly-ball rate. A lowly .223 batting average on balls in play (BABIP) in that split severely limited his production, and with bad luck like that, there's still room to be excited about his upside.
Tonight's matchup with Lucas Giolito could help unlock some of that upside too. The right-handed Giolito is coming off his first full season in the majors, and he turned in an egregious 5.37 SIERA over 32 starts. That brings his career average to 5.21 over 251 innings, and it's no surprise that the Yanks are getting such a high implied total here.
