The American League's oldest active pitcher, CC Sabathia continues to thumb his nose at father time, opening his 18th MLB season with two sharp outings that have seen him yield zero earned runs across ten innings with eight strikeouts and a tidy 2.69 FIP.
Granted, durability issues have stopped Sabathia short of the 200-plus-inning workloads of his heyday. He's averaged just over 162 innings over the past four campaigns, but a respectable 3.95 ERA over that span speak to his sturdy low-end fantasy appeal.
The New York Yankees southpaw probably doesn't have the strikeout upside to move the needle in shallow fantasy leagues, but against an Angels offense with a below-average .163 team ISO heading into Week 4 action, Sabathia should provide quality innings for managers in mid-sized leagues and deeper.
