Rougned Odor has been a middling hitter with some promising power over his Major League career so far, posting only a .310 wOBA but a .189 ISO.
Those numbers both improve if we look at his splits against right-handed pitching: a .319 wOBA with a .211 ISO on a 35.0% hard-hit and 41.4% fly-ball rate.
Tonight, he gets a matchup that should let him flex that upside against Toronto Blue Jays righty Trent Thornton. Thornton has only made six Major League starts to open his rookie season, but he's struggling to the tune of a 4.04 SIERA while getting rocked for a 45.5% hard-hit and 35.1% fly-ball rate.
Considering his numbers in his last Triple-A season, a 34.8% fly-ball rate and 3.93 xFIP over 22 starts, it's not especially surprising that he's struggled so far. While Odor is never an especially high-floor option, his upside puts him firmly in play tonight.
