FanDuel Price: $4,100
Playing Ian Desmond today is more about the matchup than it is Desmond’s performance so far in 2016. Desmond’s splits haven’t been impressive -- he’s posted just a .147 ISO and .317 wOBA versus righties this season. In fact, those numbers are even better than his 2015 splits with the Washington Nationals.
But if there’s anything that can cure a lack of ISO and wOBA, it’s Josh Tomlin.
In 2016, Tomlin has allowed a .204 ISO and 5 home runs to right-handed batters. Righties possess a 41.7% fly-ball rate and 39.2% hard-hit rate off Tomlin, a perfect recipe for hitting the long ball.
Last year, Tomlin was even worse, allowing a massive .320 ISO and 9 homers to righties in just 30 innings of work. The price tag ($4,100) isn’t cheap, but the matchup gives Desmond huge upside.
