Since coming to San Francisco, Jeff Samardzija has seen major improvements in his numbers. Since last year, he’s striking out one full batter more per nine innings, has increased his ground-ball rate by seven points to 46.7%, and his xFIP has dropped from 4.31 to 3.46.

He’s been incredibly consistent, pitching six-plus innings in 8 of his 10 starts so far in 2016. He’s also shown strikeout consistency, punching out at least six batters in all but three starts.

He should be able to limit damage this afternoon against the Atlanta Braves, who are dead last in the league versus right-handed pitching with a .089 ISO.
