Probable Starts:
Wednesday 6/22 at the New York Mets
Over the last 30 days, Danny Duffy's 14.7% swinging strike rate ranks sixth in the league, just behind the likes of Max Scherzer, Jose Fernandez, Noah Syndergaard, and Clayton Kershaw. The Duff Man has been straight nasty since being inserted into the starting rotation, and he needs to be owned in more than 33.2% of ESPN leagues.
In seven starts this season, Duffy has a 3.25 ERA and 1.00 WHIP, along with a very impressive 29.4% strikeout rate. He's finally being allowed to pitch a bit deeper into games, too, going at least six innings in three of his past four starts.
Duffy's one opponent this week will be the Mets, who have been decent against righties, but they look like a completely different team against lefties, ranking 26th in wOBA. They also have posted a 25.4% strikeout rate against southpaws, which is the worst mark in baseball.
Duffy still isn't likely to work past the seventh inning, but the Mets' free-swinging ways more than make up for that, giving him considerable upside in this matchup.
