Probable Starts:
Saturday 6/25 against the Minnesota Twins
Michael Pineda's 5.82 ERA on the year certainly doesn't offer much encouragement for him in a one-start week, but his 3.40 SIERA suggests he has been a victim of some bad luck in the ERA department. Pineda has shown signs of improvement recently, though. Over his last four starts, he has a 3.38 ERA and 2.81 SIERA, along with a 29.3% strikeout rate.
Pineda's one start this week will come against the Twins, who rank 23rd in wOBA against right-handers and have the ninth-highest strikeout rate against righties.
It seems that Pineda is beginning to turn his season around after a slow start, and he has an excellent opportunity to keep pitching well this week against Minnesota. If an owner in your league has overreacted and dropped him, grab Pineda while you still can.
