FanDuel Price: $8,800
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
There are several appealing pitching options today, including Drew Pomeranz, Rich Hill, Trevor Bauer and Jason Hammel. Three of those four have a lower implied opponent team total than Danny Duffy, which will likely keep him from being one of the most popular options of the day.
Why You Should Use Him:
Duffy has shown off his electric stuff since entering the Kansas City rotation, posting a 29.1% strikeout rate and 13.7% swinging-strike rate in 10 starts. He also has a respectable 3.14 ERA during that stretch. He's been especially dominant in his last two outings -- going at least 8 innings with 8 strikeouts and 54-plus FanDuel points in each.
He'll look to continue his recent dominance in tonight's start against the Seattle Mariners, who are fresh off of being swept by the Houston Astros. Seattle has crushed right-handers this season, but the Mariners have not been as effective against lefties. They rank just 18th in wOBA against lefties and have a 20.9% strikeout rate against them.
Vegas has Duffy doing well once again tonight, projecting the Mariners for just 3.8 runs -- the fifth-lowest mark on today's slate. They also give Duffy the fourth-highest odds of winning among pitchers on tonight's slate.
Duffy has as much upside as any pitcher on today's slate, yet comes at a discount compared to Pomeranz and Hill. He's worth a look in any format.
