FanDuel Price: $4,000
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Prior to last night, Chris Davis was mired in an 0-for-24 slump at the plate. If paying up at first base, most will find the extra $700 to pay for David Ortiz in a great matchup.
Why You Should Use Him:
While he has gotten on base in five-straight games, last night was the first hit Davis has collected in eight games. He is the type of hitter who can get hot in an instant, though, so he may be getting ready for a hot streak.
Tonight, he will look to get back on track in a lefty-righty matchup against Kyle Gibson. Gibson has a 4.67 ERA on the year and has struggled with lefties historically. In his career, Gibson has seen his xFIP rise from 3.54 against righties to 4.63 against lefties, which bodes well for Davis.
Davis has lived up to his nickname, absolutely crushing right-handed pitching in his career. Never was his dominance against righties put on display more than last season, when he launched 37 homers off of righties while posting a 44.7% hard-hit rate against them.
Davis has been too cold to consider in cash games, but he is a worthwhile gamble in tournaments due to his immense upside.
