Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Carlos Carrasco will also get lost in the shuffle with all of the appealing pitching options. After the daily fantasy community as a whole was burned by Indians starter Danny Salazar, they likely won't rush back to roster Carrasco in the same matchup with so many other options.
Why You Should Use Him:
Carrasco's strikeout numbers are down from his dominant form over the past two seasons, but he still has a very respectable 23.8 percent strikeout rate and 11.6 percent swinging strike rate. His opponent tonight, the Twins, may help him reach his former dominance as a strikeout artist.
Not only does Minnesota rank just 20th in wOBA against righties, but their 22 percent strikeout rate is the 10th-highest mark against righties. Carrasco won his only matchup against Minnesota to this point, holding them to just two runs on four hits, albeit with just three strikeouts.
If you're not comfortable with Fernandez against the Cubs and want a safer pivot off of the top options, Carrasco is your man. He doesn't have quite the upside that Fernandez does, but he still has tournament-winning upside in a plus-matchup and at discounted ownership.
