FanDuel Price: $11,000
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Pitching is absolutely loaded today, and I'd expect Madison Bumgarner, Gerrit Cole, and Zach Davies to be the most most popular of all the options. After surrendering five runs in his last start and then being subject of an innings cap this week, Jose Fernandez will likely not be a popular option, especially with the Cubs being projected for 3.8 runs, which is more than 10 other teams on the slate.
Why You Should Use Him:
Fernandez will take on the Cubs tonight, who -- while ranking ninth in wOBA against righties -- rank sixth with a 22.6 percent strikeout rate against righties. Their 10.5 percent swinging strike rate is the 10th-highest mark in the league.
Fernandez's 36.8 percent strikeout rate leads the league by a wide margin, while his 14.7 percent swinging strike rate ranks second among active pitchers, just in case you had forgotten how nasty this dude is.
There's certainly some potential for a clunker against a tough Chicago lineup, but Fernandez has more upside than any pitcher on the slate. Considering you can get him at much lower ownership than other top options, he becomes one of the most exciting tournament plays on the board.
