A platoon player who primarily sees time against right-handed pitchers, Matt Joyce is always worth a look when he's in Pittsburgh's lineup. Lately, he's been hitting right behind Gregory Polanco and Starling Marte, which is a pretty sweet spot.
For the season, Joyce, a lefty, has straight up destroyed right-handed pitching, posting a .419 wOBA with a 37.4% hard-hit rate and 41.8% fly-ball rate against righties.
Pittsburgh, with a tasty implied total of 4.75 runs, will hit the road to square off against Atlanta Braves right-hander Tyrell Jenkins. He has just 29 1/3 big-league innings to his name, but things haven't gone well for Jenkins early in his career. He's sporting an ugly 6.22 SIERA with a 10.9% strikeout rate and 14.5% walk rate.
Jenkins has given up a .372 wOBA to left-handers, and he's allowing a .355 wOBA at home. He was simply brutal in July, posting a meager 9.6% strikeout rate while hitters tattooed him for a 37.7% hard-hit rate.
