The 10 Worst NBA Teams of This Century
Dating back to 2000, which teams do our numbers say are the worst in recent history?

T9. Atlanta Hawks, 2004-05

nERD: 20.0

The 2004 Atlanta Hawks were full of high-volume, low-production players. Starting with Antoine Walker and his 0.2 win shares, four Hawks totaled over 2,000 minutes apiece yet produced just 8.8 total win shares for the entirety of the season.

For that reason, the Hawks were a very inefficient squad in head coach Mike Woodson's first season at the helm. They won just 13 games and twice lost at least as many games in a row as they won on the season.

How? It's quite easy to accomplish given Atlanta's offensive and defensive deficiencies.

On the defensive end, the Hawks (111.1) were 5 points worse than the league-average defensive rating and ranked 29th in the NBA. Offensively, they were even worse, again with the league's 29th-best rating (100.6) but placing themselves 5.5 points below the league-average of 106.1 points per 100 possessions.

When you're that bad at both ends, how could you expect the outcome to be any different.
