A top-5 fantasy producer among centers last year, Marc Gasol looks like he's in for another strong campaign, opening the 2017-18 season with games of 37.2 and 52.8 FanDuel points.
In Gasol's first game, DeMarcus Cousins, Anthony Davis and the rest of the New Orleans Pelicans frontcourt made for a brutal matchup, yet Gasol still managed his solid production in only 29.4 minutes of action. In his next game playing up in an up-tempo matchup against the Golden State Warriors, his minutes jumped to 36.4 and he posted a huge 37.5% usage rate.
He stands to benefit from playing way up in pace again tonight, taking on a Houston Rockets team that ranked top-3 in pace last year and is likely to do so again under Mike D'Antoni.
While some teams counter the Rockets' offense by going small, Gasol is too crucial to the Grizzlies to take off the floor, and he averaged 35.2 minutes per game in four meetings with Houston last year.
The Rockets are allowing the league's 11th-most fantasy points per game to opposing centers (matching their mark from the 2016-17 season), and with a huge workload and an up-tempo matchup, Gasol looks to be both underpriced and poised for a big night.
