The Miami Heat have ruled out the duo of Dwyane Wade and Hassan Whiteside for a third straight game Friday night. And they'll likely be joined by Josh Richardson, who is listed as doubtful against the Los Angeles Lakers. The absence of these three in the rotation will open up minutes for multiple players, including Wayne Ellington on the wing.
Over the last two games, Ellington's taken advantage of the opportunity. In 32.8 minutes, he's put up an average of 23.9 FanDuel points on a total of 31 field goal attempts and 27 from beyond the arc. His 22.4% usage rate over the last two ranks second on the team to only point guard Goran Dragic. Surprisingly, though, Ellington's price hasn't increased much.
At his price, Ellington is one of very few players we'll see at or above 30 minutes on Friday night, and he has proven to be a strong play when that's been the case. In the 26 games he's played at least 30 minutes, the sharpshooter has turned in averages of 15.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists. Against a Lakers team allowing top-10 production to shooting guards over the last 10, Ellington should be a chalky play at the position.
