The combination of length, athleticism, and skill has made Shai Gilgeous-Alexander one of the more exciting rookies to start the season. After putting together a couple decent stat lines over the first 10 games or so (I recall a particular beating he put on the Wizards late last month), SGA has put everyone on notice since catching fire this last week.
With an increase in minutes (up from 24.8 to 37.8) over his last three games, SGA is averaging 17 points, five rebounds, three assists, a steal, and almost two blocks a night. How’s that for versatility?
Gilgeous-Alexander has come along faster than anticipated and he’s earned his increased role on a surprising Clippers team that’s off to an 8-5 start. His progression thus far hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down and the strides he’s taken on the defensive end should mean his increased minutes are here to stay, too.
The days of a price tag floating around in the $4,000 range are long gone, but feel free to ride this wave upward. SGA is incredibly talented on a high-powered offensive roster and your daily lineups will prosper as a result.
The Clippers visit Brooklyn tomorrow night, followed by trips to Atlanta and Washington next week.
