Is Jimmer Time finally here? Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker injured his ankle against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night and will not play in the team's remaining three games. As such, there are a bunch of minutes to be divvied up, and one of the players who stands to benefit is Suns newcomer Jimmer Fredette.
Fredette spent most of the year lighting it up for the Shanghai Sharks, scoring 36.0 points per game on 41.9% shooting, adding 5.6 boards, 5.3 assists, and 2.6 steals. Of course, he was averaging over 40 minutes per game on that team, was the go-to scoring option, and wasn't exactly playing against NBA-caliber defenses.
He saw just 23 combined minutes in his first five games with the Suns, but saw 21 on Wednesday after Booker went down with injury. While he's probably not getting the starting nod here, he could easily get minutes in the mid 20's this evening. That's plenty of time to jack up a bunch of outside shots, and it will come in a game against the New Orleans Pelicans that should feature little defense.
Our models only have him currently projected for an underwhelming 17.2 FanDuel points, but you're not throwing Jimmer into your cash games. You're throwing him out there for upside and because it's fun. Here's hoping he lights it up.
