I know two things to be true: (1) Tyler Ulis is the best point guard in the nation, and (2) he's the best point guard of Kentucky's John Calipari Era. The numbers don't lie.
Though he's fell off a little defensively this season, Ulis has still managed six games of three or more steals on the year. His hand quickness is a big factor in slowing down Kentucky's opponents on a game-to-game basis. He makes opposing point guards work hard to get where they want to be on the floor.
Ulis' biggest impact likely won't come on the defensive end though. His offensive game has really taken off this year as he's showcased his ability to be a true point guard by scoring and passing at a very high level.
He's averaging 17.2 points and 7.2 assists per game while assisting on 34.6% of his teammate's made baskets when he's on the floor. His 6.9 Win Shares act as a clear display of Ulis' value and ability to lead the Wildcats to victory -- something he'll have to do in order meet the lofty expectations of Big Blue Nation.
