The 10 Best College Football Teams to Not Win a National Championship Since 2000
Which of this century's great teams have fallen short of the ultimate goal?

1. 2005 USC Trojans

nERD: 36.70

Like me, most of you probably best remember this outstanding USC team, filled with superstars and future NFL players.

The Trojans were led by Heisman-winning quarterback Matt Leinart and his 3,815 passing yards. The team also featured wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett and running backs Lendale White and, of course, Reggie Bush.

This is the year Bush would go on to win the Heisman before having it revoked years later, after the NCAA learned of rules violations surrounding Bush's eligibility. That does not, however, diminish Bush's college greatness. In 2005, he tallied 2,990 total yards and 19 touchdowns via rushing, receiving and returning.

Despite all the glamor of this USC team, they lost in epic fashion to Vince Young and the Texas Longhorns in the BCS Championship Rose Bowl. The Longhorns staged a comeback to win the game 41-38, with 19 seconds remaining in the game.
