The 10 Best College Football Teams to Not Win a National Championship Since 2000
Which of this century's great teams have fallen short of the ultimate goal?

3. 2008 Oklahoma Sooners

nERD: 35.55

As previously mentioned, there were quite a few really good teams in 2008. Not like the Trojans, the Sooners did make it into the title game where they eventually lost to the Florida Gators.

Before the grind-it-out championship matchup, Oklahoma was a well-oiled, uptempo machine through the first 13 games. They finished first in points per game (51.1), averaging 349.4 yards through the air and 198.5 on the ground. And their 10.58 adjusted yards per pass attempt ranked second behind only Florida.

Chris Brown and DeMarco Murray were featured in the rush game while Sam Bradford headed the passing game. In Heisman-winning season, Bradford threw for 4,720 yards and 50 -- again, 50 -- touchdowns to only 8 interceptions.
