10 Lessons the 2016 NFL Preseason Has Taught Us So Far
The NFL's regular-season dress rehearsal kicks off Thursday. What have we learned from the preseason already?

The Chiefs Could Have Surprising Offensive Value

We all know how good Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles is, but I don’t think anyone expected him to look this good just 10 months removed from yet another ACL tear. Still, Charles is seeing most of the first-team reps in practice and looks to be running and cutting just as well as he did before the injury. He may not play in any preseason action as a precaution, but we project him as the top fantasy running back in PPR formats for a reason.

What I expected less was to hear that Alex Smith's deep touch has returned with a vengeance, which opens up all new elements to this offense. Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin's 2015 season -- where he was 43rd in Reception NEP per target among the 86 wide receivers with at least 50 targets -- may be repeatable and even able to be surpassed. Heck, the Chiefs could support a passing attack with not only Maclin and tight end Travis Kelce but also featuring newly-christened starting wide receiver Chris Conley.
