At first glance, the New York Giants' defense against the Washington Redskins might not seem like a great play in what could be a high-scoring affair, but following an offseason spending spree to improve the defense, the Giants have been surprisingly stingy. According to numberFire's schedule-adjusted metrics, the Giants' defense has been the 10th best through two weeks.

Now they face a struggling Kirk Cousins in a game at MetLife Stadium in which they're favored to win.

As mentioned, the Giants made a concerted effort to improve the defense this offseason, bringing in Olivier Vernon, Damon Harriso, Janoris Jenkins, and Keenan Robinson and adding cornerback Eli Apple in the draft.

Through two weeks, the Giants have allowed only 32 points to the New Orleans Saints and Dallas Cowboys, while generating 2 sacks but no turnovers.

The Giants might find their first turnover -- or more -- of the year in Week 3 with Cousins coming to town. Cousins has already tossed three picks, tied for second-most in the league, and has also been sacked twice.

Eli Manning should have little trouble moving the ball against a Redskins defense that has already allowed 65 points through two weeks -- they enter this game as numberFire's 31st-ranked defense -- leaving Cousins playing from behind where we know he's capable of tossing a few picks.

Vegas has set the over/under at 46.5 with the Giants favored by 4.5.

If Miami is already taken, the Giants are a decent fallback option.
