We all have made fun of the Tennessee Titans’ “Exotic Smashmouth” game plan since they announced that they would be a run-heavy team in the 2016 season. They have done nothing to stop the ridicule since, posting the 12th-worst team rank by NEP through four weeks, due primarily to a terrible passing attack.
But what killed them in Week 4 was poor special teams play and an explosive young player for the Houston Texans named Will Fuller. Fuller -- a wide receiver -- is also the punt returner for Houston, and when Titans punter Brett Kern boomed his 45-yard punt, I’m betting even Fuller himself didn’t expect a big return. Sure enough, he took it back 67 yards for a score, and the Titans fired their special teams coordinator.
