4. Quarterback Controversy in Chicago

Win Probability Added: +20.68
NEP: +5.31

Do you remember that time that Chicago Bears backup quarterback Brian Hoyer was a better NFL talent than Jay Cutler? Me neither. He doesn’t seem to know that, though, as the former multi-team castoff is having an NFL career resurgence of epic proportions in 2016. Week 4 against the Detroit Lions continued that trend.

Leading by just one point late in the third quarter, Hoyer sat back in a clean pocket, kept his feet moving, and went through his reads before finding wide receiver Eddie Royal open and streaking across the seams in a post route. Royal snagged the ball and made his way to the left sideline, almost earning the edge before being forced out of bounds for a 64-yard gain. If Hoyer keeps playing as solidly as he is, there is almost certain to be turnover at this position for the Bears.
