numberFire Projected Rank: 19th
The Atlanta Falcons may seem like a strange choice for this column, as their defense ranks 28th, according to numberFire's schedule-adjusted metrics.
But if you're desperate, the Falcons make an intriguing choice. They've already finished as a top-12 unit in three of their six games, and they will face off with a San Diego Chargers squad that has been generous to opposing defense recently. Over the past three weeks, every Chargers opponent has turned in a top-12 scoring week for defenses.
On the season, the Falcons defense has generated six turnovers while the Chargers are averaging two turnovers per game. And while the Chargers have scored 28.8 points per game, San Diego has allowed Philip Rivers to be hit 32 times, 12th-most in the league. Rivers has also been sacked 13 times, tied for 11th-most in the league.
Vegas has assigned this game a 53-point over/under with the Falcons listed as a 6.5-point favorite.
While the Falcons defense has been far from imposing through six weeks, they're a solid home favorite against a squad that has been turnover prone. On a week without many slam dunk streaming options, Atlanta is in a good spot.
