After a 52-catch, 850-yard season in 2013, Vernon Davis racked up a combined 64 catches in 2014 and 2015 as a member of the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos. His career seemed to be headed on a not-so-promising trajectory.
Now, thanks to an injury to Jordan Reed, Davis has been the starter at tight end for the Washington Redskinsthe last two weeks. In Week 6, Davis turned his first start of the season into a 2-catch, 50-yard effort and a touchdown. Most importantly, he was on the field for 97.3% of the Redskins' offensive snaps. In Week 7, Davis racked up another 6 catches for 79 yards.
As long as Reed continues to be out of the lineup, Davis is a viable play. And in Week 8, he will face the Cincinnati Bengals, who've allowed an average of 10 fantasy points per game to tight ends, ranking them sixth in the NFL.
