High-Cost Option: Matt Ryan ($7,000)
If paying up at quarterback this week, I'm targeting the quarterback who Vegas projects to have the highest scoring team total of the week, Matt Ryan. Green Bay has a terrific run defense ranking second-highest according to numberFire's schedule-adjusted defensive Rushing NEP. Their 23rd-ranked pass defense has turned them into a funnel defense, where opposing offenses have been forced to air it out against them and have had great success doing so. Unfortunately for the Packers, they recently lost starting cornerbacks Sam Shields and Damarious Randall over the past two weeks. Ryan leads the league in Passing NEP and could have a field day against this banged up Green Bay secondary.
Mid-Cost Option: Jameis Winston ($5,700)
Jameis Winston looks like one of the safest cash-game plays of the week. He's going against an Oakland Raiders secondary that's allowed the most passing yards and the seventh-most passing touchdowns. Opposing quarterbacks not named Marcus Mariota have averaged 24.3 fantasy points against the Raiders, well eclipsing our target three-times value (three points per $1,000 in salary) for cash games on DraftKings. The Raiders are giving up the fifth-most fantasy points to the quarterback position, and it looks like Winston has one of the safest floors of any quarterbacks this week.
Low-Cost Option: Josh McCown ($5,200)
If really bargain bin shopping this week, Josh McCown is someone who squarely on the radar. Dating back to last season, McCown has averaged 20.5 fantasy points as a starter and takes on a New York Jets defense that has really struggled defending the pass. The Jets have allowed the fifth-most passing yards and rank bottom-10 in fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks. The Jets rank 28th in schedule-adjusted Defensive Passing NEP. If Terrelle Pryor is given the green light to go this week, fire up McCown with confidence.
Other Options: Aaron Rodgers ($7,500), Russell Wilson ($7,200), Derek Carr ($5,900)
