Plugging the Gaps: IDP Waiver Wire for Week 8
David Harris might run like a dad, but he brings legitimate fantasy appeal for Week 8.

Jamie Meder, Defensive Lineman

It’s really hard to be the friend of a Cleveland Browns fan. We all know at least one, and while those friends are a joy to be around, you just always have this sense that a very sorrowful legacy of bad football is lurking right behind their eyes and you never want to see your friends in pain. Give your Browns fan friend a hug this week; they deserve it.

That said, Cleveland defensive lineman Jamie Meder might be in line to wrap his arms around a few running backs in Week 8, earning us a bundle of fantasy points. He has a good baseline of production, with no games fewer than two total tackles this year, is playing over 50 percent of the Browns’ defensive snaps, and his 8 percent tackle rate ranks 21st among 121 defensive linemen with 30 or more snaps per week played this season.

His matchup is against the New York Jets, who know what they need to do if they want to win ever: 1) Do not allow quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to throw, 2) Force-feed running back Matt Forte 30 carries like they did last week. The Jets haven’t been particularly susceptible to the big-play, but Meder won’t need it with their offensive balance and likely game script.

Meder is available in 98.1% of ESPN IDP leagues, and we project him for 3.25 tackles, 0.12 sacks, and a total score of 3.75 fantasy points in Week 8.
