Plugging the Gaps: IDP Waiver Wire for Week 10
Dee Ford is holding his own in his first full season as a starter.

John Simon, Outside Linebacker

The shake-ups that have taken place in the Houston Texans’ front-seven have made it a very interesting place to find IDP talent. Outside linebacker John Simon is one of those compelling players to examine for fantasy purposes, as he’s playing an incredible 84 percent of the Texans’ snaps to this point in the year with a whopping 10.1 percent tackle rate -- the second-highest mark among 3-4 outside linebackers. His sack rate is 29th among all linebackers and his quarterback hit rate holds up even better: 20th-best. Simon definitely benefits from offenses avoiding the other players in this defense, but he’s making the most of his opportunities.

This week, he will feast on the Jacksonville Jaguars’ atrocious offensive line play, as the Jags have allowed 19 sacks this season, and two per game to outside linebackers over the last three games they played against 3-4 fronts. Adding insult to injury, Jacksonville ranks second-highest in stuff rate allowed to opponents, meaning Simon’s high tackle floor should sustain and his big-play upside could boom.

Simon is available in 98.6% of ESPN IDP leagues, and we project him for 4.53 tackles, 0.54 sacks, 0.14 passes defended, and a total score of 6.93 fantasy points in Week 10.
