When in doubt, pick up defensive backs facing good passing games. That’s our theory this week with Houston Texans safety Quintin Demps. Demps himself has averaged 6.93 fantasy points per game this season when completing the game, and most of that has been a result of his 33 total tackles over eight games played. He’s a classic strong safety in that respect, but does have three passes defended and two interceptions this year. Again, a solid floor of tackles and some coverage upside makes us giddy for IDP options.
The Packers’ Aaron Rodgers will be Demps’ focus in Week 13, and while Demps won’t be a big-time centerfielder picking off Green Bay passes, he should see plenty of short area tackles. The Packers have the second-highest pass-to-run ratio in the league, but have thrown 370 “short” passes (per Pro Football Reference), the second-most in the league this year.
Demps is available in 99.3% of ESPN IDP leagues, and we project him for 4.34 tackles, 0.14 interceptions, 0.20 passes defended, and a total score of 5.54 fantasy points in Week 13.
