FanDuel Salary Changes: Week 13

Marquess Wilson, WR, Chicago Bears

FanDuel Price: $5,400
Salary Change: Up $900

After fracturing his foot during the offseason, Marquess Wilson was placed on the PUP list to start the regular season and became an afterthought in fantasy circles. But Alshon Jeffery has been suspended, Kevin White is lost for the season again, and tight end Zach Miller was placed on injured reserve, so Wilson has been put into the spotlight.

In just his second regular season game last week, he was targeted 11 times, hauling in eight passes for 125 yards and a touchdown.

He has a great matchup this week against the San Francisco 49ers, but there are signs that we should pump the breaks before auto-inserting Wilson into FanDuel lineups. For one, he played just 59 percent of the snaps last week. In a game with one of the lowest Vegas totals on the board this week (43.5), similar playing time will likely result in less total snaps played.

Secondly, his salary has increased $900 and he’s no longer minimum-priced. In the last three seasons, a minimum-priced wide receiver whose salary jumps at least $900 has only reached cash game value 19 percent of the time in the following week. Every situation is different, but history isn’t on Wilson’s side.

He’s still relatively cheap and he’ll likely see six-plus targets, so it’s not the worst thing to use him in cash games, but he’ll be highly owned in tournaments after last week’s performance, so it will be smart to fade him in your GPP lineups.
