FanDuel Price: $8,500
Salary Change: Down $600
The New England Patriots have the second-highest implied Vegas team total in Week 13 (28.5), so we should see an explosive outing from their offense against the Rams on Sunday. As 13.5-point favorites, though, the biggest question is how they'll score -- passing, rushing, or perhaps even on defense?
The Patriots will be without their biggest offensive weapon, as Rob Gronkowski is undergoing back surgery and will miss the remainder of the season. That puts a hit to Tom Brady's stock, whose salary has somehow dropped $600 despite his juicy matchup. But regardless of who’s on the field, Brady has shown the ability to post massive performances -- he’s already thrown for four touchdowns on two separate occasions while only starting seven games.
However, if the Patriots are up by two scores or more in the second half, it could very well be a LeGarrette Blount week. He’s historically scored 6.0 more FanDuel points per game when his team is favored by a touchdown or more and he’s already notched three monster games of 22.5-plus FanDuel points this season. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Blount reach the end zone multiple times on Sunday.
Due to the unpredictability of how the Patriots’ scoring will be divided, it’s tough to trust Tom Brady in cash games, especially when you can pay $800 more for Drew Brees. But his tournament upside is unquestioned, as he’s one of the few quarterbacks with a realistic chance of throwing for more than three touchdowns. He should certainly be in at least one of your FanDuel GPP lineups.
