The 6 Best NFL Passing Seasons Since 2000
A changing of the guard among elite NFL quarterbacks is inevitable. That doesn't diminish the greatness of this era's passers, though.

3. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints (2011)

Pass NEP: 235.48

The 2011 season was some year for NFL quarterbacks. In the same year Brady threw for 5,000 yards and Rodgers earned MVP honors, Drew Brees outdid them both in terms of production and efficiency.

Brees threw for 5,476 yards while also tossing 46 passes for scores. His 71.2% completion percentage and QBR of 83.95 are the best of his 16 years in the NFL and never has he completed more passes (468) in a single season.

Despite Brees' outstanding quarterback play, the New Orleans Saints went no further than the divisional round, where they lost to the San Francisco 49ers.
