10 Fringe Prospects Who Boosted Their Value at the NFL Combine
Before the NFL Combine, these prospects were flying under the radar. Now they might be legitimate NFL draftees.

Brian Hill, RB, Wyoming

Profile: 6’1”, 219 lbs., 31-3/8” arms, 8-7/8” hands

Some players don't get noticed because of the school they go to. If they’re producing, but not in a Power 5 conference, we tend to chalk them up to the small-school effect. We definitely shouldn’t write off Wyoming Cowboys running back Brian Hill, though.

Of the 50 running backs with over 200 rushes in 2016, only four had over 300 carries and sustained a rushing yards per attempt rate over 5.00: D’Onta Foreman, Donnel Pumphrey, and Jeremy McNichols are all much bigger names in this class. Hill joins them, though, with 5.33 yards per attempt and 22 touchdowns on 349 carries.

At the Combine, Hill proved that he didn’t take advantage of bad defenses in the Mountain West. This massive mound of muscle ran a 4.54 40-yard dash with a 4.32 short shuttle, 7.03 three-cone, 34-inch vertical, and 10’5” broad jump -- all incredibly explosive marks for a player of his size.

His best Similarity Score comps include fellow tall, upright running backs Bernard Pierce (93.45%), Charles Sims (92.24%), James Starks (92.17%), and Ryan Mathews (91.35%).
