Sans Montana, Rice now reaped the benefits from the versatility of Steve Young's arm and legs. And he did so in the form of a league-best 108 catches with 1,254 yards on 153 targets.

Rice rounded out his big season with a catch rate of 70.6%, an average of 6.8 catches a game and a total of 9 touchdowns (8 receiving) in 16 weeks. His rewards came via spots on the Pro Bowl roster and All-Pro First-Team.
