The very next year, Rice's raw production dropped ever so slightly to mere mortal Pro Bowl quality. However, this year was a matter of efficiency and not volume. Rice caught 80 (20 less than in the year before) balls, but he put up 15.1 yards per catch and scored a league-leading 14 receiving touchdowns.
