At the age of 30, Faulk fell victim to the injury bug, and missed five of his team's games in 2003.

While his rushing numbers (818 yards and 10 touchdowns) would suggest that his health had little to do with his on-field play, his receiving numbers declined considerably from 2002 (80 catches, 537 yards) to 2003 (45 catches, 290 yards). And for a running back so reliant on what he did out of the backfield, that all but signaled the end of peak Marshall Faulk.
