Oh, look, another person who thinks Andy Dalton is going to have a strong 2017. What a shock.
But hey, he certainly can. He's got great players surrounding him, but his 2016 touchdown rate lagged behind.
Dalton ranked 12th in Passing NEP in 2016 with a mark of 90.70. He tied for just 22nd in passing touchdowns with 18, however.
Since 2009, no other passer accumulated a Passing NEP of at least 90 with a touchdown mark below 20 (if you excuse Aaron Rodgers' nine-game season in 2013).
Sure, Dalton did still finish as the QB12 last year (thanks in no small part to four rushing touchdowns), but he was just the QB16 in terms of fantasy points per game. Expect that to improve in 2017 against the 22nd-toughest pass defense schedule.
