Amari Cooper, WR, Oakland Raiders
11 Receptions, 210 Yards, 19 Targets, 2 Touchdowns
Performance Score: 100
Welcome back, Amari Cooper!
It's no coincidence that Derek Carr's elite performance came during Cooper's coming out party. After averaging just 24 yards in his first six games and totaling just 146 for the year, Cooper exploded for 11 receptions for 210 yards in Week 7. That was good for our third 100 Performance Score of the Week and a Reception NEP of 17.98.
It certainly wasn't a perfect night, with Cooper allowing a few catchable passes to slide through his hands and clearly getting away with a push off on his opening 38-yard touchdown reception. But with that in mind, this was a reminder of just how talented he is.
For those who may have forgotten during his early-season slump, Cooper is one of only three receivers in NFL history to record 70-plus receptions and 1,000 receiving yards in his first two campaigns. Talent like that doesn't just disappear, and that was evident on Thursday night.
While the drops and inconsistency certainly remain concerning, Cooper looks poised to recapture his promise as we move towards the second half of the season.
Best of the Rest
