Aaron Jones was the fourth-best running back of Week 7 thanks to producing 131 yards and a touchdown on the ground. But more importantly (looking ahead, at least), he played 80 percent of the Green Bay Packers' offensive snaps, while Ty Montgomery's snap rate came in under 15 percent. Jones led Green Bay's running backs in Week 6 in this department, as well.
Two weeks in a row signals that Jones has become the leader in Green Bay's backfield. It's also promising to see that Jones earned five targets. A very good case can be made that he's the Packers running back to own for the rest of the season, and that the loss of Aaron Rodgers could also net a few more running back pass targets.
Fantasy owners have been slow to react to Jones' ascension to top-dog status. Very few running backs can consistently put up the kind of performance Jones produced in Week 7, but he looks like a reliable bet for big workloads. In fantasy football, opportunity is king, and that makes Jones someone that should be in consideration for weekly starting lineups.
